IGLI Progams

IGLI’s third element is curricular and community programming for Krobel Students, DU Students more generally, and the wider Denver and Global Community. This year students and community members had myriad opportunities to attend events at the Korbel School that were produced or co-produced by IGLI, including events with guests such as Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gbowee.

An Evening with Leymah Gbowee

A WorldDenver Speaker Series in partnership with the Sié Chéou-Kang Center for International Security & Diplomacy at Denver University. Since leading a nonviolent movement of women that ended Liberia’s fourteen-year civil in 2003, Ms. Gbowee has continued to dedicate her life to uplifting and empowering women and girls across Africa and the world. In conversation with Dr. Marie Berry, prolific researcher and writer on gender-based violence during war and women's resilience, Ms. Gbowee shares how through education, advocacy, and grassroots movements, she has helped countless girls overcome unspeakable barriers and to pursue their dreams, goals, and passions to create a better world for all.

HFX (Halifax) Peace with Women Fellowship Workshop and Feminist Foreign Policy Book Launch Event

In the Fall of 2023, we were joined by the HFX Peace with Women Fellows for a day-long workshop at DU. The fellows are comprised of senior, active-duty military officers from NATO member and partner countries. IGLI at the Sié Center was chosen as one of the stops, on their 3-week executive tour of the political, military, and technological centers of the US and Canada.

In the evening, we were joined by students and community members for a discussion of the new book Feminist Foreign Policy in Theory and Practice with the authors Susan Markham and Stephenie Foster.
