Our Annual IGLI Summer Institute

About the Institute

The IGLI Summer Institute is our flagship program. Each year, we bring together 15 women-identified and gender non-conforming activists for a week of connecting, learning, and building solidarity. Our goal for the week is to connect activists from across the globe to each other and to world-leading experts on how to wage effective movements for social change. Our facilitators are alumni, academics, policy-makers, and leading thinkers.

In the spring of 2024, we hosted our first-ever Spanish language IGLI institute in Mexico. This convening brought together 17 activists from around Latin America who are fighting on the front lines of movements for Indigenous rights and representation, peacebuilding, environmental justice, LGBTQ+ and trans rights, reproductive justice, land rights, human rights, democracy, and more.

The IGLI Approach

The Institute's ethos balances attention to mind, body and heart across its programming. Creating a place where activists can not only learn the latest academic research on movement-building but also find moments of rest, rejuvenation and community.

Who attends the Summer Institute?

Any woman-identified or gender non-conforming activist is eligible to apply for a spot at the annual IGLI Summer Institute. We look to include people who are actively involved in frontline social movements, and who have experience thinking about how to transform oppressive systems from the bottom up, using creative and bold methodologies.
